A few weeks ago I had one of those strange and instant ideas that make me want to race for my laptop and search for an open source solution. The idea spawned, apparently, from having to use project management and ticket support systems of several different design shops that I work with.
The thought hit me…I bet some genius somewhere started up an open source project management solution. After a bit of searching around I stumbled onto Project Pier. To be honest there were a few others as I knew there would be. Maybe even some other good ones that I missed.
Project Pier was both stable and slick though. Easily installed, very intuitive and very useful. I instantly put it to use on several personal projects I was working on. Saved me a ton on scribbled notebook paper.
Check out the project. Another awesome example of how open source rules. Project Pier Home Page. Project Pier Blog
